Bruins Win in Glorious Fashion
|
José Herrera did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Maui Tropics from losing, 5-4, to the So Cal Bruins at Jersey West at Staples Field. Herrera belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to Marty Burgess in relief. His record improves to 7-4. John Burris took the loss. So Cal is now 56-35, Maui 32-58.
The Bruins beat the Tropics in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Patrick Osborne produced in the bottom of the tenth. Batting against Maui pitcher John Burris, Osborne gave his team a 5-4 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
"It feels good to get that win," said Osborne. "Now it's on to the next one."
