With left fielder John Peterson leading the charge, the Houston Marshals defeated the Austin River Sharks, 6-4, at Mythology Coliseum. Peterson, who is a two-time All-Star, went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Daniel Grant, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 4-10. Houston has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
Houston slugger José Rodríguez had a big at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he connected on a fastball from Jean Burrows for a 3-run home run. His 21st home run of the season put Houston in front, 6-4.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Houston manager Tom Lucott.
