Mountaineers Sink Calrissian, 7-4
|
Fans at Park Top were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Beech Mountain Mountaineers take on the Orlando Calrissian.
Mountaineers third baseman Juan Castro put his stamp on his team's 7-4 win over the Orlando Calrissian. Castro was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles for Beech Mountain in the contest. Steve Griffin earned the save, his 1st, for the Mountaineers.
Beech Mountain catcher John Anderson changed the complexion of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when he belted a 3-run home run off Lance Sanders. His 10th home run of the season put Beech Mountain in front, 5-3.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Castro.
The Mountaineers go to 41-48, putting them 4th in the National League Southern Division.
