Frenzy Win, Pierce 4-5
|
Kel Pierce added some punch to the Niagara Falls offense, helping them outmuscle the Boston Rebels, 16-7. In the game, Pierce, who is tied for 8th in the NL in stolen bases with 16, went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Niagara Falls reliever Jesse Green picked up the win to move to 3-3. Ki-tong Shiu suffered the loss. Even with the win, the Frenzy have a dismal 29-59 record.
In the bottom of the eighth inning of a 6-6 tie, Niagara Falls designated hitter Troy Lau drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Niagara Falls on top, 7-6.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Pierce told the Niagara Falls Observer.
