Tropics Come Up Short at St. Louis
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Gateway Stadium enjoyed a good ballgame.
Getting an impressive start from Claudio Martínez, St. Louis beat Maui by the score of 3-2. Martínez picked up the win for St. Louis, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 12-2. António López earned his 26th save in 27 chances.
With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Bob Ware put St. Louis in front, 3-1, with a run-scoring single. The Browns went on to win the ballgame.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" St. Louis manager Jeff Porter said.
St. Louis is now 43-37, while Maui is 29-52.
