Kings Lose to Stars, 3-1
|
In a tight battle between the Springfield Stars and the Kansas City Kings, pitcher José López was in the zone. The Springfield left-hander was named the player of the game in Springfield's 3-1 win. José Valdéz earned the save for Springfield, his 45th of the year. The Stars improved to a lofty 112-43.
Trailing 1-0, Springfield hopes soared in the bottom of the third inning when the former first round draft pick Norberto Taváres lifted a full count sinker into the stands for a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put the Stars up, 3-1.
"It feels good, just a great win all around," Taváres said after the game.
