Browns Stymie Chicago, Take 5-1 Win
|
The St. Louis Browns went home winners at Gateway Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Aaron Palmer. Palmer silenced the Chicago Machine, enabling St. Louis to grab the 5-1 win. In 6.2 innings, Palmer surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. St. Louis now sits at 81-71, while Chicago falls to 58-92.
One of the key players for the Browns was right fielder Mike Hill, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning. For the game, Hill went 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I liked his command," said St. Louis manager Jeff Porter. "Aaron was throwing strikes."
