Guerrero Slugs Stars to 11-5 Win
|
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Felipe Guerrero, the Springfield Stars defeated the Houston Marshals, 11-5. Guerrero was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Stars. Anthony Erickson was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. The save went to Shan Liu, his 2nd this season.
Guerrero contributed when he hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. Coming with two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd, the home run proved to be critical to helping Springfield get the win.
"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Houston skipper Tom Lucott.
Houston is in the throes of a 9-game skid.
