Greenville Takes League Championship Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 The Greenville 84s clubhouse was doused with a strong mist of sprayed champagne tonight at Michigan & Trumbull, after the team wrapped up the League Championship. Greenville downed the Jersey Shore D-Bags 8-3 to win the series 4-2. "There's no champagne if you lose, so it's a pretty sweet thing to taste," said Vicente Bueno, who was named series MVP. For the series, Bueno hit .520 with a .520 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 6 runs. While they may not get the sweet taste of champagne this year, the D-Bags will no dbout be drowning their sorrows tonight in some capacity. "It's never easy to lose a playoff series and I don't think there's a single guy in our room who is going to be able to easily accept that our season is now over," said the Jersey Shore manager. The Greenville 84s will play against the Baffin Island Beavers in the next round. Baffin Island won their series against the Niagara Falls Frenzy 4 games to 2. The BSA Championship schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes. |
