Star of the Week Honored in NL

So far in his young career, José Sánchez has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the National League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 24-year-old Birmingham Steeldogs second baseman hit at a torrid .440 clip as he collected 11 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
This season Sánchez has delivered 188 hits in 620 at-bats for a .303 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .363 clip and his totals also include 70 RBIs and 84 runs scored. This year Sánchez has played in 149 games.
