August's Top Hurler is Eager Friday, September 1st, 2023 Ron Eager nailed down August's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Austin to get a deal done before the 33-year-old becomes a free agent. Eager seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?" He fashioned a 4-0 record, reeled off 28 strikeouts, worked 35.2 innings and held batters to a .248 average for the month as he posted a 2.78 ERA. To date this season, Eager has a record of 10 wins and 8 losses and a 4.07 ERA. He has appeared in 25 games and struck out 99 in 141.2 innings. |
