Machine, Rebels Trade Players Monday, July 31st, 2023 Reports have surfaced that Chicago has agreed to send 28-year-old 3B Javier Villegas, 30-year-old RHP Soh Suzuki and 29-year-old RHP Jorge Delgado to the Boston Rebels in exchange for 22-year-old minor league RF Fernando Ortíz, 20-year-old minor league 2B Alden Isenhood, 28-year-old RF José Antonio Santiago and $1,000,000 in cash. "It's a done deal," said one executive speaking on the condition of anonymity. "I'm surprised word got around so quickly. We just signed off on this an hour ago." The deal apparently is awaiting physicals before an official announcement is made by either team. So far this season Suzuki has a 5-8 record with a 3.62 ERA. Santiago is presently hitting at a .271 pace with 1 home run and 19 RBIs. He has played in 35 games and scored 21 times. |
