Rowdy Players Suspended by League Sunday, May 21st , 2056 Yesterday at Toros Ballpark Lonnie Brown and Menno van der Kooij got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Tijuana Toros and Bompton Baby Lakers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Brown will have to sit out 3 while van der Kooij would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Thus far this year Brown is batting .255 with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 9 runs scored. |
