Encarnación Spins No-Hitter
Thursday, August 10th , 2056
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles were just hoping for a solid outing from Francisco Encarnación. Instead, they got something special.
The 26-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Crescent City Krewe, helping the Screaming Eagles take the 10-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Screaming Eagles. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Encarnación's repertoire has a forkball, fastball, cutter, and changeup, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Crescent City hitters off balance all game long. The Mercer Island hurler fanned 9 and walked 5 in his history-making performance.
"His forkball looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Crescent City manager Cleveland Kraut joked after the game.
Encarnación has fashioned a 7-6 mark for the season, 3.60 ERA and thrown 90 innings in 16 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .214 against him.
