Big Day with Bat: Covington 5-for-5
Thursday, July 13th , 2056
Steve Covington was at the head of a Alaskan hit parade today at Sea World. The first baseman went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Humpbacks to a 14-4 victory over the Norfolk Pajaritos.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Covington told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Pajaritos skipper Phil Baker said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Steve Covington singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit an RBI double in the 7th.
This season Covington is batting .241 with 21 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 4 home runs.
