Dirty Reds End Hagi's Streak
Wednesday, August 2nd , 2056
Thunder Bay right fielder Shintaro Hagi came into today's game against the Dayton Dirty Reds on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Dirty Reds did their jobs well, beating the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC 5-3 and holding Hagi hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Shintaro did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Northern Lions BC manager Scott Williams. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This year Hagi has hit at a .270 clip with 76 hits, 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
