Mockingbirds Shut Out by Givens, 2-0 Friday, August 11th , 2056 The Mississippi Mockingbirds struggled at the plate today against Kingfishers hurler Jim Givens, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete game 2-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Mockingbirds skipper Beau Carsten in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Givens finished the game with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson said. "Jim made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." This year Givens has compiled a 3-2 mark with a 3.73 ERA.
