Berroa Twirls 7-0 Shutout
Tuesday, August 29th , 2056
The Belleville Bulls manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Alaskan Bush Pilots. The Bulls were overpowered by Alaskan starter León Berroa, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Rafael Avelar said.
Over 9 innings, Berroa blanked Belleville on 6 hits with no walks and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Berroa said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
On his stats sheet this season Berroa shows a 6-3 record, 17 starts, 125.1 innings, 120 strikeouts and a 1.65 ERA.
