The home crowd had a good time watching the Greenville 84s and Detroit Elite get after it.
The Detroit Elite beat the Greenville 84s, 7-3, at Detroit Stadium. Detroit right fielder Ron Pollard had an outstanding performance. He went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. José Martínez got the win, improving to 10-1. He held the 84s to 1 run on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Early in the game, Pollard had a 3-run home run for Detroit. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put the Elite on top, 3-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Pollard after the game.
The win makes Detroit 56-33.
