Mockingbirds Need Extra Innings to Top Oaks, 5-4
|
In the 5-4 Mississippi win over Oakland, the impact of Jorge Martínez was substantial. Martínez, who is tied for 10th in the SL in bases on balls with 30, was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mississippi reliever Michael Donovan was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Sanya Matlah took the loss. The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Martínez hit a fastball from Sanya Matlah for a solo home run. The Mockingbirds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
