Mockingbirds Nip Kingfishers, 3-2

The MSL Mississippi Mockingbirds picked up a win at MSL Pittsburgh Ballpark, courtesy of Young-pil Kwon. The right-hander helped his team stop the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Kwon, now 5-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Lambert Fierant got the save, the 12th for him this season.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Myeong-hwan Kim came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing MSL Pittsburgh pitcher Aaron Atkinson, he hit a 2-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Mississippi on top, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" MSL Mississippi manager Floyd Oglethorpe said.
The 4th-place Mockingbirds go to 20-16.
