8-1 Voodoo Win over White Walkers Evens Season Record
|
The MSL New Orleans Voodoo topped the MSL Buffalo White Walkers, 8-1, in USPL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Buffalo Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to MSL New Orleans pitcher and Scituate, Massachusetts, native Russell Anderson. In 7 innings, Anderson surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The victory gives MSL New Orleans a record of 17-17.
MSL New Orleans relied on the hitting of Bill Matthews to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 2-0. For the game, Matthews had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said MSL New Orleans manager Kevin Hancock.
