Starting pitcher Chris McCormick pitched well enough to help the MSL St. Louis Coeur beat the MSL Buffalo White Walkers, 7-3. McCormick picked up the win for MSL St. Louis, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Manuel Suárez earned the save, his 1st.
MSL St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Onye Paulino to capture the win. The center fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Coeur ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Paulino told the MSL St. Louis Times. "It's as simple as that."
The White Walkers have now dropped 5 straight.
