Beavers Go Down to Defeat, 4-3
|
Octávio Vázquez pitched well, but the Northwest Territory Beavers still lost the game, falling 4-3 to the Surprise Shockers at Beaver Town. Pedro Ramírez, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held the Beavers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The save went to Scott Stewart, number 1 for him.
The Shockers got an important contribution from right fielder Jim Haynes, who in the top of the sixth hit a 1-1 fastball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Shockers ahead, 3-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Northwest Territory manager Robert Acker, "let me know."
The 4th-place Shockers go to 39-29.
