Baby Lakers Snatch Late Win
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers picked up a win at The Igloo, taking down the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 5-3. Starting pitcher Steve Wilson was a big reason why. The winner was Bompton reliever George Crawford, now 2-3. The loser was Roberto Gonzáles. Jing-yu Xú finished the game for Bompton and earned his 3rd save.
Jim Chuma made it 4-3 in favor of Bompton when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the ninth. The Baby Lakers went on to win.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Chuma told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The Baby Lakers' win now puts them at 20-28.
