Bullets Edge Ft. Worth in Pitching Duel
|
The Baltimore Bullets got a magnificent effort from pitcher Roberto Silva, who kept Ft. Worth hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Bullets win at Baltimore Grounds. Silva, now 3-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Baltimore now sits in 7th place in the Silver League at 21-27.
The Cattlemen had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Bullets going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old center fielder Ambrose Jackson came to the plate. Jackson hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 changeup from Ft. Worth hurler Qu-bing Li. It was Jackson's 6th double of the year.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Baltimore manager Brandon Slouck.
