The Surprise Shockers beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 9-3, at The Igloo. The Shockers got a fine performance from third baseman Amador Licopit, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Neil Herrera, the winner, goes to 3-2. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. The win gives Surprise a season record of 26-16.
Surprise used the clutch hitting of Andrew Waddell to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Shockers the lead, 7-3. For the game, Waddell had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
