Crossbeaus Snatch Late Win
The Beaumont Crossbeaus withstood an impressive performance by Ballard third baseman Tony Howard to defeat the Beavers, 5-3, at The Target. Howard went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Larry Murphy earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Esteban Álvarez earned the save for Beaumont, his 16th.

A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Crossbeaus sent 18-year-old right fielder Kent Dennis to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Beaumont on top, 4-3.

"Nice to get this one," said Dennis. "Wins have been hard to come by."

The Crossbeaus go to 22-74 with the win.
