Gators Jolt Music, 6-3, with Late Rally

Memphis wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Doug Morgan, falling to the North Ft. Myers Gators, 6-3. Morgan threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Lawrence Higgins, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Memphis to 3 runs on 6 hits over 8.1 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. Pablo Jiménez locked down his 20th save.
Nagua, Dominican Republic-born Alberto Alou came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Gators trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put North Ft. Myers on top.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Alou.
The Gators improved to 61-31.
