The skies opened up and the rain fell at The Igloo.
The Long Island Ducks stopped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 5-1, at The Igloo. The Ducks got a big game from Manuel González, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The victory makes Long Island 7-13.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until González delivered big-time for Long Island, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Kyle Campden. The game-changing hit put the Ducks on top, 2-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Ellesmere Island skipper Jaime Torres. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
