Gators Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The North Ft. Myers Gators wiggled past the Watford City Trash Pandas, 3-2, at Trash Panda Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of North Ft. Myers pitcher Bob Smithley. North Ft. Myers reliever José Porcallo picked up the win to move to 7-3. Michael Green suffered the loss. North Ft. Myers goes to 51-29. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
North Ft. Myers used the timely hitting of Jason Cooper to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gators on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had a chance to win," said Watford City manager Luis García, "but we didn't get it done."
