North Ft. Myers Beats Amarillo, 6-5

The North Ft. Myers Gators turned back the Amarillo Warheads, 6-5, at Ballpark of Henderson. Dennis Kemp, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Thad Willis. He tossed 104 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Pablo Jiménez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities.
Robert Houston, the 19-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Houston contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put North Ft. Myers up, 3-1.
In comments to the North Ft. Myers Herald, Houston insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The victory gives North Ft. Myers a record of 45-24.
