The 2056 season did not get off to quite the start the Long Island Ducks had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Greenport Harbor Whales at Ducks Park. The final score was 4-2. Starting Pitcher Dave Sandoval was the top performer for Greenport. Martino Salazar closed the game out for Greenport, earning his 1st save.
Had Will Morrison not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Morrison hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Harbor Whales.
"I really like what we did out there today," Sandoval said after the game.
