Shady Side wasted an exceptional performance by designated hitter Joe Hudson, falling to the Redwood Rhinos, 1-0. Hudson threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Kent Church. He's now 2-0. He went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits for the Rhinos. Dustin Burgess collected his 2nd save.

Redwood used the timely hitting of Keith Ortíz to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rhinos on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Ortíz.
