Late Rally Gets 7-6 Win for Octopi
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Maine Sea Dogs take on the Ogallala Octopi.
Ogallala catcher Steve Baverstock contributed to his team's 7-6 win over the Maine Sea Dogs. Baverstock went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Octopi. Eddy Poole picked up the save for Ogallala, his 4th of the year.
Ogallala used the timely hitting of Roberto Flores to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Octopi on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Flores, "but we got it done."
The win gives the Octopi a record of 21-42.
