Varga 3-5 to Power Interns Offense
Capital Hill first baseman Ignacio Varga made his presence felt in the 12-8 Interns triumph over the Ogallala Octopi. Varga went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Frédéric Desbois, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The Interns, now 13-18, have won 4 in a row.

Capital Hill used a clutch hit from Ben Chase to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Interns ahead, 12-8. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Varga told the Capital Hill Observer. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
