Arryns Suffer 7-2 Setback
|
Good production from left fielder Dermott Colenutt helped the Caldwell Chiefs topple the Lake Erie Arryns, 7-2. Colenutt hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Chiefs. Caldwell starter Umberto Erkelens was credited with the win after throwing 111 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 8-7. Josh Durnford earned the save, his 3rd.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Chiefs grabbed the lead when Emílio Núñes rapped a two-out single. Caldwell was trailing 2-1, when Núñes hit a 2-run single off Gareth Mansvelt to put his team in front, 3-2.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Núñes told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Caldwell is now 39-54.
