Zhu hits 2 home runs, Leads Octopi to Win
|
The Ogallala Octopi topped the Maine Sea Dogs by a score of 6-3. Leading the way was second baseman Lao-che Zhu. Zhu went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Octopi. Rick Hartsfield earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Eddy Poole was credited with the save for Ogallala, his 1st of the season.
Tied up with the Sea Dogs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Octopi got a boost from center fielder Bryan Pollock. With the bases loaded, Pollock saw a 1-2 sinker from Allen Cates and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Ogallala on top, 3-1.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Ogallala skipper Félix Cruz. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
With the win, Ogallala climbs to 5-10.
