River Rats Snag 5-2 Win
|
The Washington Generals got a sterling performance from pitcher Jason Reid, but the Columbia River Rats still prevailed, 5-2. Reid threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Edward Lamb. His record is now 8-3. The right-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits for the River Rats. Mike Nichols finished the game for Columbia and earned his 20th save.
Columbia needed the clutch hitting of Tom Crawford to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Rats on top, 5-2. For the game, Crawford had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Crawford. "And not try to do too much."
With the win over Washington, the River Rats improved to 41-29.
