Chiefs Rally to Eke Out Win
The Caldwell Chiefs wiggled past the Columbia River Rats, 2-1, at Pipers Ballpark. The win was highlighted by the performance of Caldwell pitcher Umberto Erkelens. Caldwell reliever Josh Durnford picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Mike Nichols was saddled with the loss. The Chiefs improved to 24-39.

The Chiefs procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Jesús Velásquez. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Umberto just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Caldwell manager Dan Fletcher.
