4-3 Arryns Win over Chiefs Evens Season Record
|
Lake Erie Arryns starter José Carmona pitched a strong game against the Caldwell Chiefs at Arryns Ballpark, leading the Arryns to victory, 4-3. Lake Erie reliever Colt Brown picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Josh Durnford was tagged with the loss. Lake Erie now sits at 22-22, while Caldwell falls to 14-30.
Brandon Benton went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Lake Erie. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off David Meyer. It was his 19th walk of the season.
Caldwell manager Dan Fletcher said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
