River Rats Topple Generals, 9-2, as Martas Shines
|
Behind the hitting of Arturo Martas, the Columbia River Rats stopped the Washington Generals, 9-2. Martas went 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the River Rats. Edward Lamb, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the Generals to 2 runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Max von Wildungen got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Dong-hua Sima, the 22-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sima contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Columbia up, 2-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sima told the Columbia Herald. "It's as simple as that."
Columbia has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
