Vera hits 2 home runs to Power Vandals Offense
|
In a high-scoring contest between Eugene and Pontiac, third baseman José Vera was a difference-maker. Vera, who is rated as the 5th best prospect by BNN, distinguished himself in the 9-8 Eugene win. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Steffen Camp closed the door for Eugene, picking up his 27th save of the year. With this game in the books, Eugene is 42-45, Pontiac 45-42.
Eugene took a 8-3 lead on Vera's 10th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Thomas Forbes in the top of the sixth, propelled Eugene to the win.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Vera.
