Pontiac Godfathers starter Lonnie Burton turned in an exceptional performance against the Eugene Vandals at Pontiac Copperdome, resulting in a Pontiac win, 5-2. In 7 innings, Burton surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Júlio Medina earned the save for Pontiac, his 24th of the year.
George Roberts tagged a home run off Steve Kidd in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run blast put the Godfathers on top, 3-2. In all, Roberts had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Burton said.
The Godfathers improve their record to 45-41 with the win over Eugene.
