South Beach wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Chia-kang Liang, falling to the Caldwell Chiefs, 4-3. Liang threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Scott McKinley, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Blaze fall to 7-11 and continue their lackluster start in 2056.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, left fielder Orlando Ramírez won it for Caldwell. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ramírez hit a first pitch fastball from Ken Johnston for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Ramírez said in reaction to the win.
