The U-24 faced a stiff challenge from Kennesaw pitcher Bruce Hawkins, but persevered to claim a win at Jets Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Hawkins went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Athletic Club KC reliever Kasper Berg got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Thom Adams was tagged with the loss. Kennesaw is now 9-5.
Athletic Club KC used a clutch hit from Quincy Audley to snatch the win. The center fielder belted a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the U-24 ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Audley said in reaction to the win.
