Big Day for Connibeer as Reapers Down Yinzers, 9-1
|
The Grim Reapers downed the Monroeville Yinzers, 9-1, at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The Reapers were led by Tom Connibeer. He was 2-2 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Robert Cobb, the winner, improved to 5-4. He held the Yinzers to 1 run on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Earning his 4th save of the year was Jesse MacNamara.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Connibeer delivered big-time for Grim, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Jacob Napper. The game-changing hit put the Reapers on top, 2-1.
"I like the roll we're on," said Grim manager Arnold Magowan.
Grim is now 41-23, 4 games up in the Silver A.
