Godfathers Pull Even With 3-2 Victory
|
Dragoons War Memorial Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Monroeville Yinzers and Pontiac Godfathers.
The Pontiac Godfathers got a stellar performance from pitcher Jim Lambert, who handcuffed the Monroeville offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Lambert, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Júlio Medina recorded his 18th save for Pontiac.
Pontiac relied on the bat of Dave Gibbons to get the win. The second baseman produced a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Godfathers ahead, 3-2. For the game, Gibbons had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Monroeville skipper Luis Arreola.
Pontiac goes to 28-28, Monroeville to 29-27.
