Godfathers Rally For 6-4 Win
|
Pontiac third baseman Mike Newman contributed to his team's 6-4 win over the Holy City Herons. Newman went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Godfathers. The winner in relief was Thomas Forbes. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Júlio Medina earned save number 17 this season.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Newman delivered big-time for Pontiac, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Miguel Hernández. The game-changing hit put the Godfathers on top, 6-4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Newman told the Pontiac Herald.
At 26-26, the Godfathers are currently 8th in the Silver A.
