Caterpillars Need Extra Frames to Get Past Hobeaus
|
Smoky Mountain got a terrific performance from pitcher Nam-shik Yi, but it wasn't enough to beat the Grand Forks Caterpillars. Grand Forks won the Smokies Stadium contest, 5-1. Yi threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The win elevated the Caterpillars to 24-22.
Grand Forks used the timely hitting of Alco Bade to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Caterpillars on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Bade called the win "a team effort."
